Passport Requirements
Your passport is the most critical document for the Azerbaijan eVisa application. It must meet these requirements:
- Validity – Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned entry date to Azerbaijan
- Blank pages – At least 2 blank pages for entry and exit stamps
- Condition – No damage, tears, or water stains that could make text unreadable
- Type – Regular, official, or diplomatic passport (not travel documents or emergency passports)
If your passport expires within 6 months of your planned entry, renew it before applying for the eVisa. Applications with insufficient passport validity are automatically rejected.

Passport Scan Specifications
The passport scan must meet these technical requirements:
- File format – JPEG (.jpg) or PDF (.pdf)
- Maximum file size – 5 MB
- Resolution – Minimum 300 DPI recommended
- Content – Full bio page including photo, personal details, and MRZ code
- Lighting – Even lighting, no glare or shadows
- Orientation – Page must be straight and fully visible
Can I use a photo of my passport instead of a scan?
Yes, a clear photo taken with a smartphone is acceptable. Ensure all text is readable, the image is well-lit, and the entire passport page is visible including all four corners. Avoid using flash, which creates glare on the laminate.
Additional Requirements by Travel Purpose
Tourism
No additional documents beyond passport and application form. You need to provide your accommodation address in Azerbaijan (hotel name and city).
Business Travel
In addition to standard requirements:
- Invitation letter from an Azerbaijani company or organization
- Letter from your employer confirming the business purpose
- Details of business meetings or events you will attend
Transit
- Valid visa for your final destination (if required)
- Onward travel ticket showing departure from Azerbaijan
- Transit period cannot exceed 5 days

Do children need separate eVisas?

- Find your passport expiry date
- Count 6 months backward from that date
- Your planned entry to Azerbaijan must be before that calculated date
Example: If your passport expires on December 31, 2026, it is valid for eVisa applications for trips entering Azerbaijan before June 30, 2026.
Dual Citizens and Special Passports
- Dual citizenship – Apply using the passport you will use to enter Azerbaijan. Both passports must meet the validity requirements if you carry two.
- Refugee travel documents – Not eligible for eVisa. Apply through an Azerbaijani embassy.
- Emergency passports – Not accepted for eVisa applications. Apply for a regular passport first.

What if my passport expires soon?
If your passport expires within 6 months of your planned entry date, you must renew it before applying. The eVisa is linked to your passport number, so a new passport requires a new eVisa application.
Do I need a passport photo for the eVisa?

Can I use my old passport number on the application?

What if my name changed since my passport was issued?

Is travel insurance required for Azerbaijan?
Travel insurance is not required for the eVisa application, but it is strongly recommended. Azerbaijan does not have reciprocal healthcare agreements with most countries, and medical costs can be significant without insurance.
